“The most important lesson I learned in St. Monica’s is that I am an alcoholic; that will never change. I will always suffer from the disease of addiction, but I don’t have to surrender to my disease. There are tools I can use, and I don’t have to attempt to do it on my own. Most importantly, I was taught that I am also very important to the recovery of others, and that I am still a woman of value who could contribute positively to the stream of life.”
